Belgian Winger Zakaria Bakkali Set to Join Morocco’s Ittihad Tanger

After declining several offers from Bulgaria, Greece, China and the United Arab Emirates, the Belgian international of Moroccan origin Zakaria Bakkali is signing with a Moroccan club.
Zakaria Bakkali will continue his football career in Morocco, the country of origin of his parents. He should join Ittihad Tanger for an 18-month contract, after January 15, reports La Dernière Heure, specifying that it will be the seventh club of his pro career, which began very young at PSV. After a period of unemployment, the player will be able to relaunch himself in Morocco. He has also made an impression during his first training sessions in Tanger, which is fighting to stay in the Moroccan D1 (13th out of 16).
During six months of unemployment, the former Devil (2 caps) and ex-Anderlechtois had hired a physical trainer and was training discreetly with a small Liège club. Several clubs had shown interest in him. He was on the radar of Levski Sofia (Bulgaria) who failed to convince him. He could also have taken off for China, Greece and, more recently, the United Arab Emirates. Bakkali was also on the radar of several clubs, but only for a trial.
