Belgian Traveler Caught at Moroccan Border with €97,500 Cash and Loaded Gun

A firearm and a large sum of currency were seized on Thursday, July 4, 2019, by the police and customs services, at the border post of Bab Sebta, in the north of the country.
It is thus a question, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), of the sum of 97,500 euros, in bills of 100, 50 and 20 euros, found in a car registered in France, but belonging to a Belgian national. The money was hidden in various places in the car, the same source specifies.
He also had in his possession a loaded firearm with 5 bullets, informs the DGSN, which is strictly prohibited by Moroccan law. It is, indeed, very strict on the circulation and possession of weapons in the country.
The man was arrested and taken into custody at the Tetouan Police Station and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact origin of the money and the firearm.
