Belgian Pharma Giant SBM to Build $5 Million Dialysis Plant in Morocco

The Belgian company SBM technology is preparing to build a new pharmaceutical plant in the Bouskoura industrial zone in order to consolidate its presence in Morocco.
The Belgian pharmaceutical group is investing again in Morocco. A new factory will be built in Casablanca, more precisely in the Bouskoura industrial zone. In total, more than 50 million dirhams will allow the Moroccan subsidiary ERGO Maroc to substantially increase its production capacity of concentrates for hemodialysis. Demand for this product used in dialysis for kidney failure patients is constantly increasing. There is then a disturbingly vigorous increase in the number of patients who regularly attend the 200 public and private dialysis centers. This is a figure that exceeds the 30,000 patient mark with an incidence rate of 4,000 cases each year, according to challenge.
To recall, ERGO Maroc, since its creation in 1981, has specialized in the manufacture and marketing of solutions and drugs for nephrology treatment. Its turnover exceeded 34 million DH in 2018 compared to barely 11 million DH in 2015. With a net operating margin in clear improvement at 33%.
As for the SMB technology group, its consolidated turnover has recently exceeded the 100 million euro mark, or nearly 1.1 billion DH, according to information provided by challenge.
