Belgian Footballer Sofian Kiyine Set for Return After Drunk Driving Crash

Footballer Sofian Kiyine is about to return to his club, Oud-Heverlee Louvain (OHL), a few weeks after a spectacular accident that occurred in Flémalle.
Having caused a serious accident while intoxicated, the player had crashed into the Louis Melin sports hall. Following this event, he was injured and required extrication.
The player’s return to the team was announced at a press conference on Friday by the CEO of OHL, Peter Willems, in collaboration with the Vias Institute for Road Safety. While the investigation into the accident is ongoing, a preliminary hearing is scheduled in the police court at the end of June. Despite the lack of details on the investigation, Willems confirms Kiyine’s reintegration based on the information already received. He also revealed that the player’s first medical and physical tests will take place the following Monday.
By engaging with the Vias Institute, the Moroccan will begin a rehabilitation program and has requested a breathalyzer for his vehicle on his own initiative, as the OHL CEO pointed out. According to him, despite the injuries sustained in the accident, the player is following a specific preparation program, but is generally in good shape.
