Barcelona’s Teen Sensation Yamal Shines in Champions League Thriller
The performances of Lamine Yamal, Spanish striker of Moroccan and Equatoguinean origin playing for Barça, are so impressive that the Blaugranas coach, Hansi Flick, and his Italian counterpart from Inter Milan, Simone Inzaghi, are full of praise for him.
On Wednesday, Lamine Yamal offered a magnificent spectacle to Barça fans. He was brilliant during the draw between Inter Milan and FC Barcelona (3-3) in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. With the Blaugranas trailing 2-0, the 17-year-old talent scored a superb solo goal in his 100th match for Barça, bringing his club back into the game. The Italian defense remained under threat until the end of the match.
This performance impressed the Inter Milan coach. "Yamal is clearly a phenomenon that is born maybe every 50 years," Simone Inzaghi said at a press conference. The Italian coach is dazzled by the talent of Barça’s gem. "I had never seen such talent before. I saw him tonight for the first time and he caused us big problems, we double-marked him... and then we lacked players elsewhere on the field..."
The Barça coach heard about his Italian counterpart’s praise for Lamine and also lauded the young talent. "In big matches, he is present and I think he enjoyed the situation," said Hansi Flick. The German coach also confirmed Simone Inzaghi’s statement that the winger is a "genius". "I’m really happy that this talent, even if it only comes every 50 years as Inzaghi said, I’m glad it’s for Barcelona," he added.
Lamine has scored 15 goals and provided 24 assists in 49 appearances this season.
