Barcelona Prodigy Lamine Yamal Set for Contract Extension to 2031, Salary Boost

Lamine Yamal, Barça’s Spanish gem of Moroccan origin, is expected to extend his contract until 2031 instead of 2030 as previously announced.
After his nice treble in national competitions (La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup), Barça is looking into extending the contract of its gem, Lamine Yamal. Discussions between its president Joan Laporta and the player’s agent reveal that the 17-year-old talent would commit for six more seasons instead of five. His contract should - barring any last-minute changes - be extended until 2031. His monthly salary of eight million euros could double. Moreover, his release clause of one billion euros could be revised. A bonus will also be offered in case of a Ballon d’Or win. Lamine is expected to change his jersey number. He could wear Lionel Messi’s number 10, formerly worn by Ansu Fati.
Lamine owes this contract extension to his brilliant career. He has broken all records. He is the youngest player in Euro history, youngest assist provider, youngest goalscorer, youngest winner, etc. At 17 years and one day, he became the youngest player to take part in a World Cup or Euro final. A record previously held by King Pelé since 1958. He was 17 years and 249 days old when he played in the World Cup final that year with Brazil. Two days after lifting the Euro by defeating England in the final (2-1), the young talent received the award for the most beautiful goal of the tournament. A goal scored during the semi-final between Spain and France that ended the Blues’ adventure. Thanks to an exceptional goal and an assist in added time, the young talent allowed Barça to win 2-0 on Espanyol’s pitch during the 36th matchday of La Liga, giving the Catalan club its 28th championship title.
