Barcelona Man Arrested: Alleged Leader of Anti-Immigrant Group Planned "Hunts" Against Moroccans

The Civil Guard arrested a man in Barcelona on Monday, accused of being the leader of the Telegram group "Deport Them Now" which would have incited "hunts" against Moroccans in Torre Pacheco, near Murcia.

Sources from the Ministry of the Interior have told El Diario that the group’s account has been deleted on Telegram and the investigating court of San Javier (Murcia) has been seized of the case. The defendant, who holds "leadership positions within the xenophobic supremacist movement ’Deport Them EU’", was arrested for his alleged participation in a crime of incitement to hatred, the same sources said, specifying that two computers were seized on Tuesday after the search of his home in Mataró (Barcelona).

This group released a statement on social networks last week in which it called for a "hunt" against the Maghreb community in the town of Torre Pacheco in Murcia. "We call on all public anti-immigration organizations, football ultras, Christian associations, the inhabitants of the city, everyone in Torre Pacheco" to violence in the city, "without fear of legal consequences," the note said.

The leaders of "Deport Them Now" claim to be the Spanish branch of a radical group present in several European countries. Their goal is to expel migrants from European territory. "You have decided to join Deport Them Now EU to contribute with your help to the largest deportation in European history. Do not hesitate to express yourself at any time and become an active member by holding demonstrations and other actions throughout Europe. Welcome to our White Brotherhood," reads the message addressed to their new members.

The group continues to spread its hate speech through other private channels. The investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office is ongoing.
