Barcelona Loanee Abde Ezzalzouli Impresses at Osasuna, Showcasing Potential for La Liga Success

Known in Spain as Abde, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli is a player who is starting to make a name for himself in La Liga. On loan this season to Osasuna by FC Barcelona, he is having a key season in his progression. After making his debut in Barça’s first team, his loan to Osasuna has allowed him to have more continuity and, above all, playing time.
The winger has found in Jagoba Arrasate an accomplice, a coach who does not seek to limit his creativity. "When he is in form, he is unbalancing. We have to give him that environment to shine. We already know the player he is," he emphasizes.
His statistics are still those of a player developing his potential, writes Sport.es. A winger who still depends too much on his individual skills to be productive for the team. A player more of moments than of matches. The Moroccan has participated in 19 Liga matches; he has started in 12 and has been substituted in 7.
Having played a total of 23 matches so far with Osasuna, Abdessamad has scored 3 goals and provided two assists. But beyond his statistics, what has attracted the most attention in Osasuna are those moments of genius that can decide matches, the same source enthusiastically reports. Overall, the winger is taking steps forward, the latest being his first start with Morocco during the international break.
From Barça to the Moroccan team
Abdessamad Ezzalzouli was named in the starting lineup for the friendly match against Peru. The Osasuna winger played 62 minutes in a match that ended in a draw and left some memorable actions. A few days earlier, he had participated in the Atlas Lions’ victory over Brazil (he played 13 minutes). Performances that confirm the player’s growth and bring him closer and closer to Barça, which is closely following his evolution.
Indeed, the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has already hinted on several occasions that Abde is a player who is very much appreciated by the coaches. This is why it is already considered a given that he will return in June to strengthen the team. The technical staff appreciates the player’s versatility, who can play on both wings and his one-on-one skills. The initial idea is that he will be part of the squad for next season and only a very important offer would lead the club to consider a transfer.
Abdessamad Ezzalzouli’s role will also depend on the moves the club makes this summer among the forwards it has. At the moment, it has Lewandowski, Dembélé, Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Ansu. Five forwards, a figure that may seem a bit tight in the context of the 4-3-3, but which after the implementation of the four-midfielder strategy seems less problematic. Nevertheless, injuries and suspensions can quickly reduce the team’s options, and this is where the versatility of the one who hesitated before joining Morocco could prove valuable.
If the native of Béni Mellal is able to continue to progress at Osasuna until the end of the season, he could arrive at Barcelona in June with a more important status. It is clear that his creativity and individual skills are assets that can be useful for the Catalan team. Now it remains to be seen how Xavi, Barça’s coach, plans to use the Moroccan player in his strategy.
