Barcelona's Loan Deal Blocks Ezzalzouli from Playing Against Parent Club

On loan to Osasuna, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli will not play this Tuesday against FC Barcelona, his parent club. The reason is the "fear clause" included by Barça in the loan contract of the Moroccan striker.

FC Barcelona hosts Osasuna this Tuesday at the Spotify Camp Nou. Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, on loan to the Navarrese club by Barça, will not be part of the team due to the famous "fear clause" provided for in his loan contract, which prohibits the borrowing club from playing him against his parent club. To let him play, Osasuna would have to pay the sum of 300,000 euros to Barça beforehand, reports Diario de Navarra.

Logically, Osasuna preferred not to field the Moroccan striker for this match. It might have agreed to pay the 300,000 euros if Barça was its opponent in the Copa del Rey final, an important match to win a title it has never won. But Barça was eliminated in the semi-finals against Real Madrid. So Abde Ezzalzouli will be able to play the final against Real Madrid scheduled for May 6 in Seville.

But the Moroccan striker has missed several matches in recent weeks. He did not play the El Sadar match and was a substitute on April 25 in Cadiz. He came on in the 83rd minute and was sent off in the 85th minute after a foul on Iza Carcelén. Having received a one-match suspension, he missed last Friday’s match against Real Sociedad. And this Tuesday, he will also be absent at the Camp Nou.
