Balearic Islands Official: Migrants Pay Thousands to Reach Spain Illegally

The scale of the phenomenon of illegal immigration is worrying Ramón Morey, the Government Delegate to the Balearic Islands. According to him, each irregular migrant pays between 4,000 and 10,000 euros to come to Ibiza. Yet the islands were "a failed route".
After the second arrival of boats in eight months, Ramón Morey, the Government Delegate to the Balearic Islands, takes stock and raises his voice. Before expressing his state of mind, he revealed that all migrants who tried to reach the Pitiüses, by boat, paid between 4,000 and 10,000 euros to the illegal gangs that charter these small boats of about 4 or 5 meters long, reports the local media, Diario de Ibiza.
These gangs load each boat with about 14 or 15 people. In total, 5 of them had arrived in Pitiüses, in one week, 3 in Formentera and 2 in Ibiza, said Ramón Morey.
In total, the Civil Guard, the National Police and the Local Police of Formentera and Santa Eulària arrested 63 people. They are men who left the Algerian port of Dellys, among whom were 6 minors (five of whom were already in a center in Majorca). The others would be Algerians, details the same source. To all of them, Morey’s message was clear: "The Eivissa route is a failed route. It is not worth spending between 4,000 and 7,000, sometimes 10,000 euros, to come here, and you have every chance of being detained," he said.
According to the Government Delegate, these illegal immigrants are all in perfect health, except one who was hospitalized for malaria. This situation is not to his liking. Thus, Ramón Morey hammered that he would weigh with all his might so that illegal immigration between Algeria and the islands would be a "failed route".
