ATP Suspends Tennis Tournaments for Six Weeks Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced on Thursday the suspension of its tournaments, including the Marrakech Grand Prix Hassan II. The reason is the coronavirus pandemic.
This suspension was not very expected in the field, due to the evolution of the health crisis that the world is going through, and which has led to the postponement or cancellation of many cultural, sporting and even political events.
The suspension of the ATP and Challenger circuits for the next six weeks therefore comes in line with the measures aimed at avoiding any kind of gathering that could contribute to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The circuit will resume after the week of April 20.
According to an ATP statement, "after the recent cancellation of Indian Wells, the tournaments affected by the cancellation decided on Thursday are Miami, Houston, Marrakech, Monte-Carlo, Barcelona and Budapest".
