Armed Hijacker Steals Moroccan Pepper Truck in Southern Spain, Driver Assaulted

The Civil Guard arrested a man accused of hijacking, in the municipality of Huétor Tájar (Granada), a truck loaded with peppers from Morocco.
The suspect, aged 39, threatened the driver of the truck from Morocco, who had stopped at the municipal park in Huétor Tájar (Granada) on June 17, with a firearm. He was wearing a balaclava on his head and forced the driver to get out of the truck loaded with peppers, which he then recovered and hid in an industrial warehouse in the town of Caniles, reports Granada Hoy.
The judicial police of the Granada command opened an investigation to try to locate the truck and arrest the alleged perpetrators. With the help of the company that owns the truck, they managed to trace the position of the vehicle, which was located in the industrial warehouse in Caniles. The investigators also discovered that the said company belongs to a known criminal, arrested twice for drug trafficking.
During the raid on the warehouse, the Civil Guard agents found that the suspect had dismantled the truck, leading them to believe that the suspect was likely looking for a possible drug cargo hidden in double bottoms. The load of peppers was recovered. The defendant, for his part, was made available to the Loja court as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of theft with intimidation with a firearm.
