Arabic Name "Jannah" Soars into France’s Top 100 Baby Names, Reflecting Changing Demographics

Largely unknown a few years ago, a very popular Arabic name in Muslim countries is entering the ranking of the 100 most given names in France for the first time in 2024.
Jannah is now among the 100 most given names in France last year. According to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), this Arabic name ranks 77th in the top 100. It was given 625 times in 2024, it is specified. A historic breakthrough for a name that was largely unknown a few years ago.
Jannah "paradise" or "heavenly garden in Arabic" is very popular in Muslim countries. This name has become famous in France thanks to its musicality, its simplicity of writing and its strong spiritual symbolism. "But it is also a name that can be found in Anglo-Saxon countries, with the same spelling, which gives it an international scope," says Parents.fr.
Jannah is also replacing already well-established names such as Inaya, Lina or Malak in the hearts of parents.
