Arab Parliament Rebukes European Resolution on Morocco-Spain Crisis

During an emergency session held this Saturday in Cairo, the Arab Parliament once again rejected the resolution of the European Parliament against Morocco. It denounced its "interference" and its "insistence" on intervening in a bilateral crisis between the kingdom and Spain.

The Arab Parliament rejected "the unacceptable arrogant approach of the European Parliament in dealing with issues related to Arab countries, by adopting resolutions that are at odds with the requirements of the desired strategic partnership between Arab and European countries," can be read in a decision adopted at the end of the emergency meeting, reports the MAP. According to him, the European decision "contained false accusations against Morocco on the issue of illegal immigration."

To prevent such a resolution from being taken in the future, it called for the adoption of an Arab vision to counter the interference of the European Parliament in Arab affairs. It also called on the parliamentary body of the European Union to adopt practical and responsible positions that strengthen cooperation and joint coordination between Arab and European countries. The Parliament also called on the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Mediterranean Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean and all regional parliaments to follow suit in rejecting and condemning the decision of the European Parliament, which contradicts the internationally recognized rules of parliamentary diplomacy.

For the Arab Parliament, the resolution of the crisis between Morocco and Spain will only come through diplomatic means and direct bilateral negotiations between the two countries. It also welcomed "the tireless efforts made by the Kingdom of Morocco in the fight against illegal immigration, which stem from a strong political will and the direct instructions of King Mohammed VI, as a pioneer in resolving migration problems in Africa".
