EU Approves Moroccan Poultry Imports After Years of Negotiations

After several years of hesitation, the European Union has finally decided to open its doors to Moroccan poultry meat, authorizing its export to its member countries.
According to the decision published in the Official Journal of the EU, the authorization concerns all poultry meat products, except ratites, including ostriches.
To achieve this trade partnership, Morocco had to comply with certain health requirements, including ensuring the technical competence of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) and the effectiveness of its controls.
The various audits carried out in Morocco by European experts have finally been conclusive. "Therefore, and given the health situation of poultry in Morocco, it is appropriate to include this third country on the list" of countries entitled to export to the EU, the Commission stressed.
