Anwar El Ghazi, target of threats from Israelis

Anwar El Ghazi, a Moroccan-origin football player playing for Cardiff City, has made public a hateful message received on social media.
This message, from an Israeli individual, hurls insults and death and rape threats against the player’s family. The author of the message calls El Ghazi a "terrorist" and calls for violence against his loved ones, demonstrating deep hatred and disturbing extremism.
Faced with such attacks, the footballer chose not to remain silent. He posted the message on his "X" account to denounce the violence of the words and the persecution he is suffering from certain Israelis. "This message is one of many messages I receive from these people, and it clearly shows their way of thinking and acting," he said.
El Ghazi also denounces the "double standards" that prevail in the face of such acts. He claims that if the roles were reversed, with an Arab sender and an Israeli target, the affair would have caused a media and political scandal, denouncing anti-Semitism. Yet, he notes, when racist messages target Muslims, the media and authorities remain silent.
Fired by Mainz for supporting Palestine, the player had won his case in court. The German club was ordered to pay him 1.7 million euros in compensation. Far from rejoicing in this sum, El Ghazi announced that he would donate 500,000 euros to projects for the children of Gaza.
