Antwerp Lawyer Sentenced to Prison for Aiding Drug Traffickers in Sky ECC Case

Accused of complicity with drug traffickers, lawyer Jawad H. was sentenced on Wednesday by the Antwerp Criminal Court to three years in prison, half of which is suspended, and a fine of 12,000 euros.
Jawad H. was arrested as a result of the investigation into the encrypted messaging service Sky ECC. According to 7sur7.be, investigators found conversations that the lawyer, under the identity of "Kafka", had with Zakaria E.K. and Najim E.M., considered drug traffickers, during the period between October 2020 and February 2021.
The convicted person is said to have provided them with information on ongoing cases before the courts, as well as lawyers to defend already arrested drug traffickers. Jawad H. is also accused of having links with Sahil M., a former lawyer sentenced in December last to five years in prison, including 20 months suspended, for similar acts.
