Against Angola, Morocco gets by thanks to an own goal

Morocco did the bare minimum against Angola on Friday night in a friendly match. The Atlas Lions won the match thanks to a goal by David Carmo against his own team.

Morocco won by the smallest of margins against Angola (1-0). The Moroccan selection delivered a timid performance in this friendly match, the first after its elimination in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. The only goal of the match was scored by the Angolan player David Carmo against his own team, on a cross from Yahia Attiat-Allah.

Brahim Diaz and Eliesse Ben Seghir made their debut with the Atlas Lions in this match. The Real Madrid striker chose to play for Morocco over Spain, while Ben Seghir declined the offer from the French team in favor of the Atlas Lions. The two stars made a good impression during this match.

The Moroccan number 10, highly anticipated, created many opportunities, but failed to score. Fed by Achraf Hakimi on the right side and Sofyan Amrabat in midfield, Brahim Diaz gave the Angolan defense cold sweats, which managed to resist his repeated attacks.

For his part, Hakim Ziyech, captain of the Atlas Lions in the absence of Romain Saïss, was very effective in this match, both in attack and in defense. On the other hand, other players like Ayoub El Kaabi, Azzedine Ounahi and Abqar disappointed with their performance. The first was replaced by Soufiane Rahimi and the second by Richardson in the second half.
