Angelina Jolie Condemns Gaza Conflict, Urges World Leaders to Act

Faced with the continuation of the war between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, American actress Angelina Jolie, goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), has made an urgent appeal to world leaders.
"Gaza has become an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is turning into a common burial ground. 40% of the victims are innocent children. Entire families are decimated," lamented the American star in a post published on Instagram, describing Israel’s operation in Gaza as "the intentional bombing of a trapped population" and "murders."
Angelina Jolie is annoyed by the attitude of the leaders of many countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, who continue to support Israel and reject calls for a ceasefire on the grounds that this measure will only benefit Hamas. "By refusing to demand a humanitarian ceasefire and blocking any UN Security Council resolution to establish a ceasefire between the two parties, world leaders are complicit in these criminal acts," she added.

During a new visit to Israel, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated on Friday that the Hebrew state had the "right" and "obligation" to "defend" itself to ensure that the attack carried out by Hamas against the Hebrew state on October 7 could "never happen again." "We remain convinced that Israel not only has the right but also the obligation to defend itself and do everything in its power to ensure that October 7 never happens again," he said.
