Andalusian Businesses Explore Investment Opportunities in Morocco's Growing Sectors

What business opportunities with Morocco? This was the focus of a videoconference organized by the Andalusian Agency for the Promotion of Exports (Extenda), which was attended by about a hundred Andalusian operators.

On the agenda were discussions on Morocco’s positioning as a favorable destination for business and foreign investment, but also as an undisputed platform in Africa. The emphasis was placed on "the new niches likely to interest Andalusian companies." These mainly concern the auxiliary industry, agriculture and agri-food, digitalization, the construction industry, renewable energies, water and wastewater treatment, as well as automotive equipment.

Extenda especially recommended that future operators seeking new outlets in Morocco be "on site" and involved in all stages of the process, in order to make a place for themselves in this promising market. In this sense, the many agreements and protocols signed between Morocco and the European Union are a great asset.

Thus, "these commitments allow for mutual trade liberalization, already in force in certain activities, as is the case in the sectors of industrial goods, agricultural and fishery products," the Extenda officials said, adding that "this new orientation allows the creation of an integrated and competitive value chain on both sides of the Strait, particularly in the textile, automotive or berry sectors. This contributes to an increasingly important trade flow."

It should be noted that Morocco represents the eighth destination for Andalusian exports and the second outside the Community space, after the United States. At the same time, Extenda, through its director Arturo Bernal, reiterated its commitment to support Andalusian operators in strategic and high-potential markets, such as the Kingdom.
