Amina, 30, dies in general indifference after being turned away from the emergency room

The on-duty intern sent the patient home in the middle of the night with a prescription for an inhaler, postponing the tests to the following Monday.

The young woman’s condition did not improve the next day. Traumatized by this night of useless waiting, she refused to return to the hospital. This refusal would prove fatal to her. Her friend found her lifeless body on Sunday morning in her home in Cuesmes. Doctors consulted afterwards estimate that pneumonia does not kill a 30-year-old woman so abruptly and point to a likely heart failure that a simple blood test could have detected.

The police handling adds absurdity to the tragedy. The officers who intervened on the scene seized the deceased’s phone and keys without drawing up a report. When the family requested these belongings, the police first denied having taken them, before justifying their disappearance by a "loss".

The fight for the truth has been facing an administrative wall for a year. The Mons Prosecutor’s Office closed the case without further action but still refuses to communicate the autopsy report to the family. Safia, Amina’s sister, denounces an opaque system where the hospital rejects any mediation and the justice system asks the lawyer to stop his follow-ups. The loved ones of this specialized educator, described as sunny and committed, remain without the slightest explanation about the real causes of her death.
