Amber Alert: 3-Year-Old Zakaria Missing After Father Takes Him from Grandparents’ Home

A man left with his son, Zakaria, aged 3, for an unknown destination, leaving the child’s mother fearing she may never see him again.
The events took place on August 10th. The father had gone to pick up little Zakaria, who was at his maternal grandparents’ in Grâce-Hollogne, reports La Dernière Heure. After the parents’ separation, the court had not ruled on the custody of their child, ruling out any attempt at abduction. That day, Laura was absent from her parents’ home. She and a friend had spent the day at the seaside. "Since it was late when we got back from our day, I stayed at my friend’s place so as not to wake everyone up when I got back," explains the 24-year-old mother.
It has been two months since she has had any contact with her ex-partner, whom she describes as an influential drug dealer. Without means, Laura was living with her grandparents with the little one. "I had blocked the father on social media so I wouldn’t have any more contact with him, but he could come see Zakaria whenever he wanted. One day he came and was violent with my grandmother, so we called the police. Of course, when the police arrived, he had left, because he is wanted for a drug case. The police therefore told us not to let him in the house again," she confides.
According to her, the child’s father had her followed by his friends who were constantly in front of the house. "They even followed me by car when I went to McDonald’s. The father of Zakaria kept telling me that he was going to take my son and finally he did," she says.
Little Zakaria is with his father and is doing well. The ex-partner of Laura sends photos of the child on Facebook. The father’s wish is to have exclusive custody of the child.
