US Ambassador Urges Polisario to Unblock Guerguerat Crossing Amid UN Security Council Vote

The actions of the Polisario in recent days are a concern. During an interview with the Hespress.com website, the United States Ambassador to Rabat, David T. Fischer, called on the armed group to "not obstruct regular civil and commercial traffic, through the Guerguerat border crossing".
The diplomat’s intervention comes a few hours before the UN Security Council’s adoption of its resolution on the extension of the Minurso mandate in the Moroccan Sahara.
In this context, it is important that the parties concerned by the vote observe the UN’s watchword, in order to find a solution that puts an end to the situation in the Sahara and to establish a lasting and suitable policy for all, stressed the American diplomat, whose country supports the UN’s approaches and efforts.
To recall, for a week now, the Polisario has been preventing traffic at the El Guerguerat border crossing between Morocco and Mauritania and the rest of the African continent.
