Polisario Front Warns Morocco Over Military Presence at Western Sahara Border

The rift is burning again between Morocco and the Polisario over the presence of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) at the El Guerguerat border crossing. A warning has been issued to the kingdom against military escalation and its repercussions.
"The examination of the repercussions of the continued violation by the Moroccan occupation of Military Agreement No. 1 and the ceasefire" was at the center of an emergency meeting chaired by the Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali. At the end of this meeting, a communiqué was made public on Saturday. The Polisario declared "a state of maximum emergency in order to deal with the situation generated by Morocco’s persistence in occupying parts of the Sahrawi territory and disregarding its commitments towards the Sahrawi party."
It also described as a "dangerous development" the presence of Moroccan forces over the previous two days facing defenseless Sahrawi civilians demonstrating in front of the "illegal breach" in the El Guerguerat region, in the sight and knowledge of MINURSO, adds the same source.
The Polisario Front also condemned "the persistence of the Moroccan occupation of certain parts of the territory of the SADR, a member of the African Union, on the one hand, and its continued attempt to evade what it had signed with the Sahrawi party under the supervision of the UN and the Organization of African Unity / African Union (AU), on the other hand," holding the Kingdom of Morocco responsible for the repercussions of "this dangerous situation."
