Altercation at Algeciras Port Disrupts Moroccan Traveler’s Journey Home

A dispute broke out between an employee of the port of Algeciras and a Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) participating in the Marhaba Operation. The former prevented the latter from accessing the port to join Morocco.
In a video posted on social media, the port employee can be seen yelling at the MRE in the car: "Now you won’t be entering." A fight broke out between the two, under the gaze of several bystanders and colleagues of the port employee, reports 20minutos.
The Marhaba Operation has resumed this year after two years of cancellation due to the health crisis related to Covid-19 and the diplomatic crisis between Spain and Morocco. The Transit Operation takes place from June 15 to September 15 and allows Moroccans from Europe to join Morocco via the Spanish ports to spend their summer vacation there.
