Alstom Secures $858 Million Contract for Tel Aviv’s New Green Line Metro Project

Alstom, which has one of its factories in Morocco, is part of the TMT consortium to which the NTA public transport agency has awarded the contract to build the green line of the Tel-Aviv light metro. This project is in line with Israel’s investment plan in transportation to reduce traffic jams in Tel-Aviv.
The TMT consortium includes Alstom, the Dan Transportation bus operator and the Israeli public works company Electra, reports Ville Rail Transports. The contract awarded to it is worth 2.6 billion euros, of which 858 million euros for Alstom. "The green line will be the longest of the two, with 39 km from north to south and 62 stops, including 4 underground stations in the center of Tel-Aviv," it is specified. Its ridership is expected to reach 76 million passengers in 2030.
Alstom has been entrusted with the design, engineering, supply, integration, testing and commissioning of the rail system, including the tracks, electrification (1,500 V DC), power supply (which will include Alstom’s Hesop energy recovery system), signaling, communication system and the supply of 98 Citadis XO5 trams of 34 m. Its plant in Fez (Morocco) will manufacture the electrical and wiring cabinets, and the one in Charleroi (Belgium) will provide the power electronics (new integrated traction and auxiliary converter), as well as the Hesop system.
