Alsa Maroc Wins Contract to Operate Casablanca’s Public Bus System

Urban public transport by bus will be managed by the company, Alsa Maroc, on the territory of the 18 municipalities of Greater Casablanca. It signed a delegation of management contract on Thursday with the Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment (ECI) and Al Baïda.
At the signing of this contract, the two companies were represented at the highest level. Imane Sabir, President of Al Baïda, Alberto Perez, Managing Director of Alsa Maroc, and Nabil Belabed, Managing Director of Casa transports, displayed a perfect understanding of the terms of the contract, which takes effect from November 1, 2019.
The contract includes two phases. During the first, called the initialization phase, which runs from November 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, Alsa-Al Baïda will have to manage the traffic with some 250 buses "in a highly deteriorated state", taken over from M’dina Bus, whose contract expired on October 31 current.
After this first phase, the company will gradually put 400 used buses into circulation.
The second phase, which will begin in 2021, will see the deployment of 700 new buses, jointly financed by the ECI and Alsa.
Note that the new company, Alsa-Al Baïda, which is starting this contract under the control of SDL Casablanca transport SA, is a subsidiary of the Alsa transport Group, known for its experience in the sector for about twenty years.
