Algerian Soccer Star Mahrez Sparks Controversy with Comments about Moroccan Fans

Algerian international Riyad Mahrez made a blunder during an Instagram live, claiming that Moroccans do not like Algerians. This major gaffe has gone viral on social media.
These remarks by Algerian player Riyad Mahrez reveal that he does not at all have Moroccans in his heart.
During the lockdown, the Manchester City striker did an Instagram live with beIN Sports journalist Smaïl Bouabdellah. During this sequence that went viral, he discussed the journey of his team, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations champions.
According to the 29-year-old striker, Moroccans are poor losers and were not happy with the Fennecs’ victory at the 2019 AFCON: "Do you think the Moroccans wanted us to win? Well, the Tunisians a little bit. But the Senegalese, the Cameroonians, etc. and it’s not because they don’t like us. It’s just because we make too much noise," he specified, before adding: "This title is ours, the Algerians’, not the Moroccans’. Everyone was against us and the Moroccans did not appreciate the fact that we were crowned African champions. Our victory bothered them."
Like a snowball effect, these remarks by the Algerian player provoked the ire of many Moroccan internet users. According to them, Mahrez has a short memory. He has apparently forgotten that since the elimination of the national team, Moroccans had supported Algeria and even celebrated their victory in several cities of the kingdom.
