Algerian Presidential Candidate Calls for Renewed Ties with Morocco
Ali Benflis, former Algerian Prime Minister, also a candidate in the next presidential election in his country, called for the restoration of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Morocco.
"The Moroccans are our brothers and our neighbors. The Algerians are neither enemies of the Moroccans nor adversaries of the Moroccan people".
This is how Ali Benflis expressed himself on the Algerian channel, El Bilad. For the candidate in the Algerian presidential election, "it is time to intensify relations with Morocco. The Moroccan-Algerian file must be well treated. We must open the dialogue, discuss and prepare the future".
To this end, he stressed the importance of opening the borders between these two neighboring countries. However, he acknowledges that the task will not be easy. To achieve this, the candidate Ali Benfils suggests that this issue be debated as a holistic political file. He also advocates the path of negotiation.
