Algerian Murder Suspect Arrested in Ceuta While Attempting to Swim to Morocco

A man of Algerian origin was arrested in Ceuta as he was trying to reach Morocco by swimming. He would be involved in a homicide case in France.
The suspect was arrested on the beach at the border area of Ceuta with Morocco, the Civil Guard said, noting that the migrant, who did not have any identity documents on him, claimed to be a Moroccan who wanted to return to his country of origin, reports La Verdad de Ceuta.
The Civil Guard opened an investigation and verified the identity of the defendant, who is rather of Algerian origin, discovering that the migrant was the subject of a European arrest warrant. He is wanted by the French judicial authorities for the murder of a person on September 19, 2022.
After his arrest, the Algerian was placed in custody on the orders of the competent judge of the National Court, pending his extradition.
