Algerian Media Fires Back at Moroccan Foreign Minister’s Western Sahara Comments

The recent statements by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, have sparked lively controversy within the Algerian political milieu, which the local press has echoed.
Denouncing Algeria’s incomprehensible "persecution", the head of Moroccan diplomacy had declared during a press conference: "I am surprised by the energy, the time that Algeria devotes to the Moroccan Sahara issue. It has almost become Algeria’s top national priority."
The reaction of the Algerian media did not wait, especially since the Moroccan minister would have, to quote certain organs, "castigated" the political and religious circles. Bourita had indeed reported about "about fifty statements from the Presidency of the Republic, the government spokesman, the Prime Minister, the Algerian diplomacy, the Algerian army. Even at the religious level, Algeria has mobilized 7 dispatches per day, from the official press agency".
For the local press, Nasser Bourita is only reiterating the same mistakes against Algeria, deliberately omitting to denounce the defamatory and slanderous campaigns led by the Moroccan media against their country.
