Algeria’s President Accuses Neighbor of Spreading Disinformation to Destabilize Country

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune accuses Morocco, without naming it, of wanting to destabilize his country through media relays. Statements that add to the diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
"One of our neighbors is trying to destabilize us through a deluge of false information," he said on Monday, March 1, during a television interview with national media, without however mentioning Morocco. However, it is clear that the Algerian president is referring to the kingdom. Since the evacuation in mid-November by the royal armed forces of the Guerguerat passage and the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara in exchange for the normalization of diplomatic relations between the kingdom and Israel, tensions have risen a notch between Algeria and Morocco.
In addition to this accusation, the People’s National Army (ANP) in its operational report on the fight against crime published through the official agency on Monday, accused "Morocco of pursuing its policy of flooding Algeria with drugs which has become a threat to national security and stability, especially since it targets the most vulnerable category, namely our young people".
For its part, Morocco denounces the incomprehensible "persecution" of Algeria. "I am surprised by the energy, the time that Algeria devotes to the Moroccan Sahara issue. It has almost become the priority national issue for Algeria," Nasser Bourita, head of Moroccan diplomacy, had said during a press conference. The Sahara issue remains one of the points of friction between the two countries.
