Morocco Pledges $1 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Crisis-Stricken Yemen

Morocco is making a financial contribution of one million dollars to international humanitarian aid for Yemen. The announcement was made on Monday in Rabat by Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, has always given a special place to humanitarian aid in its international policy, said Nasser Bourita during a high-level meeting on the Humanitarian Intervention Plan in Yemen, ravaged by an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. For the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, a lasting political solution must be found to this humanitarian crisis that forces a large number of people, in search of food and medicine, to move. "The situation in Yemen calls on the international community to mobilize to allow the Yemenis to live in peace, security and stability," he said.
In this context of intense war, it is urgent to act to avoid famine for 22 million Yemenis (75% of the population) according to forecasts, added Nasser Bourita, who welcomed the international solidarity effort for Yemen and reiterated Morocco’s support for the actions of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, with a view to a global ceasefire and the resumption of political negotiations with the new Yemeni government.
