Algerian Islamist Leader Condemns Moroccan PM Over Israel-Morocco Deal

"Zionist", "traitor", this is how the Justice and Development Party (PJD) and its leader, Prime Minister Saad Eddine El-Othmani, are described by the head of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), the Algerian Islamist party, Abderrazak Makri. This shower of insults comes following the agreement to resume relations between Morocco and Israel.
"The head of the [Moroccan] government and secretary general of the Justice and Development party should feel the most ashamed among the signatories of the agreement because of his betrayal of his principles and his previous position in favor of normalization," writes Mr. Makri on Facebook.
"We believe that this party has credible people within it in support of the Palestinian struggle against the Zionist occupier, but if the party’s institutions have approved this betrayal, it means that it has officially become Zionist," he continued.
According to the head of the Algerian Islamist party, the visit of the Israeli national security adviser to Rabat proves that normalization means that Morocco agrees to cooperate on security matters with Israel. As a result, he sees "a certain danger for the Palestinian cause".
