Algerian Commentator Alleges CAF Corruption in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host Selection

The Algerian sports commentator for beIN Sports, Hafid Derradji, claims that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded the organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) to Morocco and does not hesitate to accuse the organization of corruption.
Will the 2025 CAN take place in Morocco? While countries like Morocco, South Africa, Senegal, Zambia, Nigeria in a joint bid with Benin and Algeria are submitting their bids to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Algerian sports commentator for beIN Sports, Hafid Derradji, claims that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already decided in favor of Morocco.
"Before the presentation of the files, their study and the vote on February 10 next, it seems that the ’group’ has decided to award the 2025 CAN to Morocco, the 2027 CAN to Nigeria and the 2029 CAN to Algeria," he writes on his Facebook page, without citing any sources. According to him, the vote was initially supposed to take place on the sidelines of the African Championship of Local Players, scheduled in Algeria during the January-February 2023 period, but it will finally take place in Morocco on February 10, 2023 on the occasion of the Club World Cup.
Hafid Derradji also accused CAF of corruption in its decision-making. "The wise man must understand how things are managed and what we must do, especially since football is no longer just a game, as many believe, and the choice at this level has nothing to do with the file," he continued. For now, CAF has not yet made an official decision on the country that will host the 2025 CAN.
