Algerian Ambassador’s Doctored Photo with Moroccan King Sparks Diplomatic Row

Abdelhamid Abdaoui, Algeria’s ambassador to Rabat, sparked controversy on Twitter by posting a post in which a retouched photo of him presenting his credentials to King Mohammed VI appears in the background. He had just received the Swedish ambassador to Morocco, Anne Höglund.
The Algerian diplomat seems to harbor a visceral hatred against King Mohammed VI. In a post on Twitter, the Algerian embassy in Rabat reported a courtesy visit made on February 15 by the Swedish ambassador to Morocco, Anne Höglund, to her Algerian counterpart Abdelhamid Abdaoui. But a photo appearing in the background of the illustration photo caught the attention of Internet users. It is the photo of the presentation of credentials of the Algerian diplomat to King Mohammed VI. This photo, which adorns the offices of all diplomats accredited to the kingdom, has been retouched.
This remark sparked reactions from Moroccan Internet users. Faced with the controversy, the Algerian embassy in Rabat had to delete the post. However, the same publication remains visible on the Facebook account of Radio Algérie internationale.
