Algeria Protests Morocco’s Jersey Map to FIFA Ahead of U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier

To avoid the possible cancellation of the World Cup qualifying match between the U17 women’s national teams of the two countries due to the jersey printed with the full map of the Kingdom of Morocco, Algeria has written to FIFA.
Towards a possible cancellation of the World Cup qualifying match between the Moroccan U17 women’s football team and the Algerian team due to the jersey printed with the map of the kingdom including the Sahara? Fearing this eventuality, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) "is said to have sent a letter to the International Football Federation (FIFA) to warn it against a repeat of the scenario of the cancelled matches between RS Berkane and USM Alger," reports DZBALLON. Despite the recent decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Algeria is not ready to accept that the Moroccan team plays with the jersey containing a map of Morocco including the Sahara. The two teams are scheduled to meet on Friday, May 10 at the Berkane municipal stadium for the first leg and on Friday, May 17 in one of the stadiums of the capital, probably that of Dar El Beïda or that of Rouiba, for the return leg.
In late April, CAF imposed heavy sanctions on Algeria due to the cancellation of the first leg of the Confederation Cup semi-finals between the Moroccan club Renaissance de Berkane and the Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, because of the jersey of the Atlas Lions containing a map of the kingdom including the Sahara.
