Algeria Faces Steep Fines After U17 Arab Cup Final Violence

The Disciplinary Commission of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) has imposed a series of sanctions on the national teams of Morocco and Algeria, after the violence recorded at the end of the match counting for the final of the Arab U17 Cup.
Although Morocco was not spared the UAFA sanctions, Algeria is the country that will pay dearly for its share of responsibility in these incidents. While the Atlas Lions must pay a fine of $25,000 for participating in the brawl, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) is ordered to pay $120,000 for allowing Algerian supporters to invade the playing area. As for the Fennecs, they must pay a fine of $25,000 for their participation in the brawl. For his part, the Algerian player Abdelhak Ben Idir, who attacked the Moroccan goalkeeper, is suspended.
While ensuring its determination to punish any excesses during the competitions it organizes, the Disciplinary Commission of the Union of Arab Football Associations stated that the sanctioned parties can file appeals. It should be recalled that the final of the Arab U17 Cup was won by the Algerian Fennecs, who prevailed over the Atlas Lions in the penalty shootout (4-2).
