Algeria Bans Academic Collaboration with Morocco, Deepening Diplomatic Rift

Algeria is increasingly determined not to reconcile with its western neighbor, Morocco. This is evidenced by the latest decision banning academic ties with the kingdom.
Algeria is taking a new measure against Morocco. In a correspondence from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated July 3, addressed to the presidents of the regional seminars of Algerian universities, the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research prohibits Algerian university professors from participating in conferences, seminars and colloquia taking place in Morocco.
They are also ordered not to publish articles and scientific research in Moroccan journals anymore. Thus, Algerian academics, members of the scientific committee of "the journal of legal and judicial studies and research" led by Professor Mohamed El Kacimi, must withdraw immediately from this Moroccan publication.
This new measure is justified by the publication of articles hostile to Algeria in the Moroccan journal. "Morocco is using Algerians, of all categories, in its hostile and propagandistic policy against our country," say the Algerian authorities.
