The strike of dockers at the port of Algeciras, announced for November 19, could benefit the port of Tanger Med, its major competitor.
The dockers operating on the APM terminals at the port of Algeciras want to go on strike from November 19 and will observe 2-hour work stoppages per shift. The strikers intend to express their discontent in the face of the impossibility of reaching an agreement with the management on the improvement of the collective agreement.
According to the Spanish press, this announced strike of the Algeciras dockers could lead to a transfer of activities to other ports, including Tanger Med, which also has one of the most efficient APM terminals.
