EU Alerts: Contaminated Moroccan Squid Shipment Seized at Spanish Border

The European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has issued a new alert regarding a batch of contaminated squid exported to Spain from Morocco.
According to the RASFF, a break in the cold chain was detected in a batch of squid from Morocco during a check at the border with Spain. A situation that could promote the proliferation of bacteria such as salmonella and make these crustaceans unfit for consumption.
The shipment was seized, reports El Español. The RASFF, without giving more details on this alert, mentions a "risk" to the health of consumers. However, it reassures that this batch of squid from Morocco has not been marketed in Spain.
The consumer association Facua has repeatedly denounced the lack of information provided by the RASFF on these food alerts, which leads European consumers to avoid sourcing any type of product affected by the alert.
