Alert in Spain after seizure of weapons from Morocco

The Guardia Civil has carried out the seizure of rifles originating from Morocco from members of a criminal organization that is trying to establish itself in the Huelva region. The pressure of the security forces in Algeciras and in the Strait has pushed drug traffickers to move to this area.

According to La Razon, two criminal organizations met on a deserted beach in Mazagón for a drug trafficking operation. Nearly 40 individuals, including Moroccans and Spaniards, were participating in the operation. Their presence was detected by the Civil Guard agents who were monitoring the coast. Before their arrival, the boat carrying the cargo, presumably hashish, resumed its journey at sea. The criminals, for their part, also managed to escape, leaving firearms, including an assault rifle, on the spot.

An investigation is being conducted by the judicial police of Huelva, a region increasingly affected by drug trafficking due to the police pressure in Algeciras and in the Strait, which forces criminal networks to move their activities. Police unions and associations of civil guards have been demanding for months that the Ministry of the Interior provide more human and material resources to track down these criminals and discourage these practices.

The Spanish authorities are mobilizing to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in the region. Thus, in support of the anti-drug unit (UDYCO) police officers of Huelva, the Greco group will be tasked with investigating large-scale trafficking in order to increase pressure on drug traffickers and improve the effectiveness of the fight against drug trafficking and crime.
