Alert: Fake Police Target Moroccan Travelers on Spanish Highways

The Spanish authorities are warning about the existence of criminal gangs posing as Spanish police officers to strip Moroccans residing in the country of their belongings on the Iberian roads as they flock to their country of origin during this period to spend their holidays there.
Disguised as Spanish police officers, members of these criminal networks set up roadblocks on the roads most used by Moroccans from Spain to reach Morocco, particularly the A7, to dispossess them of their belongings. The modus operandi has been the same for several years: they claim a false check to seize the money and valuables of these Moroccan travelers, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya citing Spanish sources.
The Spanish authorities recommend that Moroccans who will be traveling this summer to the kingdom never stop at a roadblock set up far from urban areas, or near rest areas and toll stations. MREs familiar with Spanish roads have already shared photos of these fake roadblocks on social networks, as a warning to those who plan to use these roads.
Despite this call for vigilance, the danger remains in this period when thousands of Moroccans residing in Europe will flock to Morocco to spend their holidays there. This year, the Marhaba Operation takes place from June 15 to September 15.
