Air Traffic Controllers Unite Across Borders to Enable Life-Saving Organ Transport

The coordination between the Spanish, Moroccan and Portuguese air traffic controllers and the crew of an Iberia plane made it possible to obtain an organ in time for a transplant during a flight between the Canary Islands and Madrid.
The coordination of the route required "between eight and nine calls to obtain the authorizations", as well as "the supervision of the traffic that does not go through the airway", explained the captain over the loudspeaker, in a video shared on the official Twitter account of the air traffic controllers.
This cooperation between all these players allowed the plane to leave the conventional air route, flying practically in a straight line from the Canary Islands to Madrid, a distance of about 2,000 kilometers. The pilot also did not fail to salute the work done by the air traffic controllers of Seville, the Canary Islands, Madrid, Lisbon and Morocco.
