New Air Route Connects Morocco’s Guelmim to Lanzarote, Boosting Regional Tourism

The Spanish airline Binter inaugurated, on Saturday, a new air link between the city of Guelmim and Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands. After a 70-minute flight, an ATR72 aircraft landed at Guelmim airport with 28 passengers on board, coming from César Manrique airport in Lanzarote.
This new air route will be operated every Saturday in both directions and adds to another route launched last year, between Guelmim and Las Palmas. The director of Guelmim airport, Abdelouahab Chaabaoui, welcomed the inauguration of this new air route, stressing that it will strengthen the air service of the city and facilitate air travel for the inhabitants of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.
The air link should also contribute to the tourism promotion of the region. A plane will leave Lanzarote airport every Saturday at 12 p.m. to land at Guelmim airport at 1:10 p.m., with a return flight scheduled at 1:55 p.m. The inaugural flight was welcomed by the traditional "water salute" on arrival on the tarmac of Guelmim airport.
