Air France Flight Crew Swiftly Extinguishes Phone Fire Over Casablanca

A rare incident occurred in mid-flight as an Air France plane flying from Paris to Ghana on Monday passed over Casablanca.
More fear than harm. Passengers on an Air France A330 aircraft flying from Paris to Ghana had the fright of their lives. As the aircraft was flying over Casablanca (Morocco), smoke was coming from a phone, reports franceinfo. Wearing impressive silver smoke-proof hoods, the cabin crew quickly intervened to control the start of the fire, reports Franco-Beninese entrepreneur Marie-Cécile Zinsou, a passenger on the plane in an Instagram post.
"Disaster averted on AF914 thanks to an exceptional crew. [...] When my neighbor’s battery caught fire, the steward was incredibly fast, courageous and efficient, as were his colleagues," she adds, saluting the "remarkable professionalism" of the crew on board. The device was immersed in a water bag, thus avoiding any disaster. "Cabin crew are trained to handle this situation," says Xavier Tytelman, an aviation and defense consultant.
