Aggressive Car Guards Harass Motorists in Moroccan Cities, Sparking Outrage

In Casablanca as in other Moroccan cities, car guards continue to have inappropriate, even aggressive, behavior towards motorists.
Inappropriate behavior with motorists is legion. In Casablanca, Sara H., who came to the bank agency to carry out an operation, was a victim of it. After paying the meter (2DH for forty minutes), a man wearing a fluorescent vest who claims to be the car guard in the area, with a red spherical plate clearly visible on his chest, approached her to be paid. He demands parking fees from her.
The lady is stunned. "I was dumbfounded when he asked to be paid with a barely concealed threatening tone," she tells La Vie éco. Sara told him she no longer had any change. So she didn’t pay him. The car guard got angry. Like this lady, there are many motorists who are victims of inappropriate behavior in the parking space.
In Casablanca, the phenomenon of fake car guards remains a major concern. Some initiatives have been taken. We can mention the launch of a digital platform dedicated to complaints against car guards who do not respect the law and which is made available to motorists, a campaign and a series of hashtags denouncing this incivility and the grip exercised on public space, etc.
