Agadir Tourism Rebounds to 83% of Pre-Covid Levels, Boosted by New Markets

The tourism sector is regaining its momentum in Agadir with a recovery rate of 83% compared to the pre-Covid period. A feeling of satisfaction among professionals after difficult years.
The city owes the return of the tourism boom to the new source markets. Professionals are still waiting for more, especially with the journey of the Atlas Lions in Qatar and the launch by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) of the "We dream big" campaign, reports the daily Les Inspirations Eco.
According to the newspaper, from January to November 2022, the classified hotels in the city welcomed 923,408 tourists compared to 516,256 in 2021. From January to November, overnight stays also experienced a significant increase with more than 3.6 million, compared to more than 5 million in 2019 and 1.6 million in 2021. Domestic tourism has also seen an upturn, with a 3.56% increase in November. About 452,919 tourists were recorded in the classified hotels from January to November 2022 against 436,794 for the whole of 2019.
It should also be noted the strengthening of the Spanish and Italian markets. "This increase is mainly attributable to Ryanair flights serving these markets, thanks to the partnership already sealed between the ONMT and the Irish company." However, the traditional French, English, German and Belgian markets have not yet regained their effectiveness.
