Agadir’s Timitar Festival to Feature 40 Artists in Amazigh and World Music Showcase

The 16th edition of the "Timitar" Festival wants to offer a celebration that goes beyond what the event has made the public experience during the festivities of the 15th edition, which took place in popular jubilation. To this end, the city of Agadir will vibrate, from July 3 to 6, to the rhythm of Amazigh and world music, which no less than 40 Moroccan and foreign artists will offer.
Act 16 of "Timitar" offers a rich program. About twenty Moroccan artists and groups, who alternate different musical rhythms, will be part of the celebration. We could mention the singer of "Chaâbi" Najat Ataâbou, the singer Zakaria Ghafouli, whose hit "Hobino" reminds HuffPost Maghreb, "had hit big on YouTube last year". In addition, the performance of the rock group "Betweenatna", the singer Gadiri Lahcen Anir, who has just unveiled his clip "Li 3ndo 3ndo", not to mention the hip hop group "Fnaïre", which is making a lot of noise, and the Casablanca singer Hatim Ammor ("Mchiti Fiha", "Bla 3onwane").
For the promotion of young Moroccan talents, the public will have the opportunity to appreciate the performance of the singer-guitarist Soukaina Fahsi, who was revealed in the "Arabs Got Talents" show, and Hicham Massine who blends Amazigh music and modern rhythms. As for traditional music, it will be well represented by groups such as "Raïs Said & Abdellah Outajajt", the "Aït Laati, l’Ahwach Haha" ensemble from Tamanar or the "Raïssa Fatima Tachtoukt".
Music from elsewhere will also have its place, as in each edition of "Timitar". To this end, the Malian group "Tinariwen", which will perform at the "Gnaoua" Festival in Essaouira before the "Timitar", will be on the stage of the "Al Amal" Square on Friday, July 5. The group "The Chehade Brothers" (Lebanon), the singer Ismaël Lö (Senegal), the reggae group "The Original Wailers feat. Al Anderson" (Jamaica), and the singer-guitarist Eugenio Bennato (Italy) will also liven up this 16th edition of the Festival.
A commendable initiative launched in 2004 by Brahim El Mazned, to whom we also owe the "Visa for Music" music fair in Rabat, "Timitar" aims to be a warm event that, according to its Director Khalid Bazid, stages Amazigh and foreign artists each year with the objectives of "promoting tolerance, cross-fertilization and openness to the world".
