Agadir’s 40 Million Dirham Cable Car Project Set to Launch in July, Connecting Port to Historic Kasbah

The start date for the Agadir cable car is now known. This flagship tourist project of the city, which extends over a linear distance of 1,700 m, accompanies the rehabilitation project of the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella.
Costing a total of 40 million dirhams, the Agadir cable car involves two lines, which will connect the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella to the "Dania Land" tourist project over a distance of 1,700 linear meters. The first line will have 30 cabins, including 4 VIP cabins, while the second line will have 18 cabins. The commissioning of these two lines is scheduled for early July 2022. These lines will connect the port of Tildi and the most emblematic heritage site of Agadir, the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella, in less than six minutes. The goal is for the Agadir cable car to be able to transport 1,000 people per hour and generate 1,000 direct jobs, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
The delivery of the project’s cabins is already effective. These are high-quality cabins, the latest generation of cable cars built by Doppelmayr, the world leader in cable transport. The Agadir cable car will be equipped with D-line technology. This ensures optimal comfort for passengers, quiet operation, and simple and fast maintenance. The commissioning of this means of transport will coincide with the completion of the Kasbah renovation work, currently underway. The Kasbah is an exceptional promontory site overlooking the port. It has been classified as a historic monument by two Dahirs, one of July 30, 1932 and the other of March 23, 1944.
